The StoryCorps Oral History Project is coming to Nantucket, a special one-day field trip on Wednesday, May 16th. StoryCorps is a traveling oral history recording project affiliated with both NPR (National Public Radio) and the Library of Congress. The goal is to record the stories of people living in America in the early 2000’s, so that those interviewed can have a recording for their own family archives, and the Library of Congress can compile its own vast archive. A few of the interviews that have been recorded have been edited into radio vignettes which are heard each Friday on NPR’s Morning Edition. WNAN has asked me to help find PAIRS of people who could be interviewed - friends interview friends, a son interviews his mother. etc. StoryCorps has a strong desire to reach outside the typical public radio listener to people whose stories may not have been told before.
