Autism Walk

It’s not too late to join the Nantucket Walk Now for Autism, Saturday, August 25 at Jetties Beach. 8:30 a.m. registration; 9:30 a.m. walk starts, 1.85 miles beginning and ending at Jetties Beach, with three water stations along the route.

Parking is available at Jetties for those with special needs. For permit: Dorothy at 508-228-7881 or nantucket@autismspeaks.org by Thursday (23rd). All walkers are encouraged to park at the Nantucket Boys & Girls Club (61 Sparks Avenue) or Nantucket High School (10 Surfside Road). Shuttles to Jetties will begin at 8 a.m. and will run continuously throughout the event from the Boys & Girls Club and High School lots.

Light breakfast of muffins, pastries, whole fruit, juice, water and coffee provided by Jetties. Beverages compliments of O Beverages, Nantucket Nectars, Henry’s Junior and Something Natural. Snacks donated by The Bachman Company.

Resource Fair: information for those affected by autism spectrum disorders and the Nantucket community. Face painting and Autism Speaks puzzle piece temporary tattoos. Special guest: Barnaby the bear, featured in children’s books since 1993.

From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, Autism Speaks staff will be at the Harbor House Village hotel for pre-registration (drop off your collected donations and receive your event t-shirt if raised over $100), walk day volunteer check-in and any questions

The Walk will take place rain or shine. No pets please.
