Nantucket in the News

January 17, 2008

The Nantucket Historical Association has achieved accreditation from the American Association of Museums (AAM). Accreditation brings national recognition to a museum for its commitment to excellence, accountability, high professional standards, and continued institutional improvement. Of the county’s nearly 17,500 museums, only about 775 are currently accredited. The Nantucket Historical Association’s Whaling Museum is one of only 44 museums accredited in Massachusetts.

Bicycling on Nantucket was recently featured in Coastal Living Magazine, entitled “A Two-wheel Island Adventure - Pedal your way to the unexpected treasures of Nantucket”, by Jacquelyne Froeber. Mentioned are Ryan Dobbins (”The world would be a better place if we all rode bikes”), Harvey Young of Young’s Bicycle, Sankaty Lighthouse, Siasconset, the Polpis loop, the White Elephant hotel and the Brant Point Grill.
