Friday (6th): Earth is at its farthest from the Sun for the year - 3 percent farther (about 3 million miles) than at perihelion in January.
Saturday (7th): At twilight, bright Venus appears about equally distant from Saturn (to its right) and Regulus (to its upper left).
Monday (9th): Before dawn, look to the eastern sky for the waning Moon with fiery yellow-orange Mars to its lower right. Twice as far below Mars is a dimmer fire-colored star, Alpha Ceti. The Pleiades is far to their lower left.
