The Nantucket Historical Association Diversity Festival took place on Saturday, November 6, 2010 in the Whaling Museum, with food, music, and stories from islands that have influenced and been influenced by Nantucket, and museum tours in Spanish, Portuguese, and Bulgarian. The afternoon also included a twenty-minute museum highlights tour; making sailors valentines whirligigs, and faux scrimshaw; a curatorial table to view and touch spermaceti candles and oil, harpoons, baleen, and sperm whale teeth; the opportunity to have a “Nantucket portrait” photograph taken and printed out while you wait; and singing sea shanties.
