The first ever Nantucket Children’s Film Festival will take place from August 9-14, 2009. The Festival is meant to be an annual world-class international film program that includes award-winning features and shorts as well as events for young people to see, hear, taste, smell and touch the world of film.

In its first year, the NCFF will celebrate international children’s cinema, with more than 30 films from 10 countries including action-packed adventure, animation, short films for tots and teens, historically important films and whirlwind trips to faraway lands.

The program of feature films, short films and documentaries will be announced in July 2009. The festival will open with Family Fair, a Pancake Breakfast & Movie and close with Storybook Author Reading & Ice Cream Social.

The Nantucket Children’s Film Festival is presented in association with the Nantucket Film Festival, now in its fourteenth year. Founders are Mystelle Brabbée, Holly Waterfield and Davad Cokonis. Davad came up with the idea on the island, Mystelle is the Artistic Director of the Nantucket Film Festival, and Holly has worked as both the Sponsorship Director and Events Director for the Nantucket Film Festival.
